Brief History of Julian Oaks Youth Ministries
Julian Oaks Youth Ministries was founded in the spring of 2009 by Tony and Tina Massa as an outreach to children and teens who have been abused and neglected. Inspired by Psalm 27:10, “When my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will take care of me”, their mission is to redeem the past, provide a joyful present, and offer true hope for the future through the love of Jesus Christ for children who have been abused.
The ministry of Julian Oaks is a genuine “Jerusalem/Judea” type of local outreach (Acts 1:8) seeking to bring the good news of Jesus to children who are living in foster homes and group homes throughout San Diego County and adjacent Riverside County, beginning right here in Julian, extending as far north as Murrieta, south to San Ysidro, and everywhere in between!
In the past, Tony and Tina directed summer programs at this same site for nearly twelve years with Camp Alandale San Diego. Consequently, our campsite here in Julian has become a source of stability for over 500 children and teens, many of whom have attended camp for several consecutive years and some for nearly a decade! They identify Julian Oaks as a place where they are able to experience the love of Jesus Christ in a very tangible way while finding strength, hope, and, perhaps most importantly, trustworthy direction with a sure destination.
Doctrinal Statement of Julian Oaks Youth Ministries
We stand for and emphasize the foundational truths held in common by evangelical Christians, our basis of fellowship being a oneness of heart and mind in all things of the Lord and adherence to the historic Christian faith expressed as follows:
- The Bible, which is verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit and inerrant in the original manuscripts and is the infallible and authoritative Word of God.
- The triune Godhead in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- The personality of Satan called the Devil, and his present control over unregenerate mankind.
- The fall and lost estate of man, whose total depravity makes necessary, the new birth.
- The deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, death, bodily resurrection, present exaltation at God’s right hand, and personal imminent return.
- The atonement by the substitutionary death and shed blood of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.
- The resurrection of the saved unto everlasting life and blessedness in heaven, and the resurrection of the unsaved unto everlasting punishment in hell.
- The Church, the Body or Bride of Christ, consisting only of those who are born again, for whom He now makes intercession in heaven and for whom He shall come again.
- Christ’s commission to the church to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
