Children come for week long camps during the summer. The sessions begin on Monday and end on Friday with a whole lot of fun and fellowhip in between. Days are filled with hikes, crafts, cooking, swimming, ropes course, disc golf, archery, worship, bible studies and skits. Camps are small with a counselor to camper ratio of 2:1. Sessions are for 4th-6th graders, 7-9th graders and 10-12th graders. Check the calendar for dates.
Once you're a part of the Julian Oaks Family, the relationships don't end when you are 18. In 2011 we began hosting Alumni Camps where adult campers return, some with their young families, to spend time reminiscing of some of their sweetest childhood memories that took place at Julian Oaks. Topics of study include, parenting skills, finding employment, being a productive citizen and growing in Christ!
The months of December through March are filled with winter fun at Julian Oaks. Returning campers reuinite with camp friends for a weekend of hot cocoa, games, occasional sledding, movies, hikes and discipleship. The intimate camp atmosphere continues during winter camps with a counselor to camper ratio of 1:1. The cozy lodge makes for a wonderfully warm refuge from the crisp Julian winters.
Junior Counselor Trainings
Camp takes alot of people behind the scenes and upfront (like in skits!). Teenagers from local churches work alongside mature campers to give the current campers a model of Christian servanthood and fun! There are two weekend trainings a year when adolescents build lasting relationships and learn skills that help them serve at camp and beyond!
We are often asked what kind of training we offer to our counselors. Truth is, serving as a counselor at Julian Oaks is more about being an "older" friend to some great kids. Our day long spring training and camper handbook serve more to orient one to the camp routine. How can one be best equipped? Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength...He alone, will provide the rest!
